I love all of your posts, and although my favorites tend to be about television and pop culture in general, my absolute favorite so far has been ‘The importance of she-roes’. I found it awfully inspiring and sweet, and it put a lot of things about my own life into perspective. I’m really glad you shared such a big part of your life with us.

“Is Lady Gaga doing more harm than good for gay rights?” is probably my favorite entry I think. I’m also really interested in standing up for LGBT rights, and I think that taking a look at the people who are the faces of different movements is really important. And what kind of message that sends about the movement.
A comment about the entry I didn’t think of before: While a congressman might not take Lady Gaga seriously, if her fans see her standing up for LGBT rights, maybe they’ll take it seriously. If enough people do, then Congress will be forced to as well. Just a thought

My favorite post of yours has been the post about your best nachos. All the others made me think and ignited (I always think of you when I hear/use this word tbh) some strong reaction. The nachos just made me hungry and I love any excuse to eat so thank you. Your blog is excellent, and I am glad you have so much to say and in turn give me so much to say.

My favorite of your posts is the one about Johnny Depp. I can tell from the comments it was perhaps more controversial than the majority of your writing, but I think that in writing about Depp’s comments on rape you did something incredibly important. When folks let these sorts of comments go—whether about rape, homophobia, racism, xenophobia, able-ism, ageism….whatever—that silence is like permission for similar comments. Even if he was joking and it made sense and was not offensive in context and and and….it is still up to folks like you to say, No. Enough. You don’t get to belittle someone else’s experiences on my watch. You don’t get to say something that will negatively impact people , something that perpetuates rape culture and all the icky things that come along with it. You stood up for lots of people that day, most of whom you’ll never know, and you did it even though it was perhaps unpopular. It’s the kind of post a she-ro would write, and you should be proud.
